The Best MRO Software Is the One Built for Your Size of Shop
Every list of the best MRO software makes the same mistake: it compares products without asking who is buying. AMOS running a 40-aircraft airline fleet and a 9-technician Part 145 shop tracking annuals are both "aviation maintenance," but they have almost nothing in common as software problems. So instead of a ranked list, here is the honest framework, including where our own product does and does not fit.
The three tiers of MRO software
Tier 1: Airline and fleet systems
AMOS, TRAX, and Ramco dominate scheduled-carrier maintenance. They are deep, proven, and built around fleet planning, heavy checks, and airworthiness management across dozens of aircraft. They are also priced and implemented accordingly: enterprise contracts, per-seat or per-module licensing is common, implementations are measured in quarters, and none of them publish pricing. If you run a fleet, evaluate these. If you run a repair station, you will be paying for a planning department you do not have.
Tier 2: Business aviation and large MRO platforms
Veryon-class and Corridor-class systems target business aviation operators and larger MROs. Strong products with real compliance depth, typically sold through demos and custom quotes, with per-seat pricing common and implementation services billed separately. For shops in the 50-plus range with dedicated IT support, these are credible choices worth demoing.
Tier 3: Small and multi-location repair station software
This is the underserved tier: FAA Part 145 repair stations from a 3-person shop to a multi-location MRO running a hundred people across several sites, plus independent A&Ps. These operations need work orders, compliant e-signatures, return to service packages, parts, time clock, and billing in one system, without an implementation project or a per-seat bill that grows every time they hire. One thing worth knowing about our own history here: our first customer was not a tiny shop. - What does the RTS workflow produce? Ask each vendor to show the finished artifact: the signed logbook entry with the 8130-3s, CAMP or MSP cards, and service records assembled. One button or an afternoon of collating is the difference between software and a filing system.
- How does pricing scale with people? Per-seat models make your 12th mechanic a licensing event. Flat shop-based pricing with unlimited users means growth costs nothing. Do the math at your headcount plus three hires.
